GM3 and Symbio Wildlife Park have joined forces in a groundbreaking conservation project, leveraging technology and education to protect Australia's iconic wildlife. This innovative initiative encompasses two key components that aim to safeguard the unique flora and fauna of the Illawarra region and beyond.

The first part of the project involves using drones to survey the canopies of Macarthur and the Illawarra escarpment, with a particular focus on the Appin and Mount Kembla areas. Drones equipped with high-resolution cameras are employed to monitor and document the habitats of local koala populations. This cutting-edge approach enables researchers to gather critical data on koala populations, nesting sites, and overall health, aiding in their conservation efforts.

The other half of the program introduces a conservation app designed for educational purposes. This app is intended for use in schools, providing students with an engaging tool to learn about Australian animals and their habits. It offers an interactive platform for understanding and appreciating the region's rich biodiversity, fostering a sense of responsibility for its preservation among the younger generation.

The GM3 and Symbio partnership signifies a significant step forward in wildlife conservation and environmental education. By utilising technology and sharing knowledge, they are not only protecting the natural heritage of the Illawarra region but also nurturing a new generation of environmental stewards who will carry the torch for the conservation of Australian wildlife. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the iconic koalas and other unique species that call this region home have a brighter, more secure future.
